Outlook 2007 and IMAP sent folder

Here is one of my pet peeves about outlook. Every now and then I send an email, and for some reason it ends up in the Sent Items folder under "Personal Folders" instead of uploading to my IMAP Sent folder where I can access it via other email clients. I can understand Outlook doing this temporarily if for some reason it couldn't access the IMAP folder, but it seems to do this randomly even when there is a connection to my IMAP server, and gives no warning when it happens (i.e. it just silently stores it locally).

I do not have a fix that stops Outlook from doing this, but I do have a workaround that lets you upload the messages to the IMAP sent folder after the fact. Just open the Sent Items folder in your Personal Folders, then right click on the message in question and choose "Move to Folder". You can then select your IMAP Sent folder and outlook will connect to the IMAP server and upload the message, removing it from your local Sent Items folder in the process.

BD-ROM disappears after Ghost install

My old trusty Dell laptop finally bit the dust, so I picked up a new Sony VAIO from Micro Center (had to buy retail since I needed a new laptop right away). The VAIO has a Blue Ray drive instead of a regular DVD/CD-ROM drive (hence the "BD-ROM" in the title).

One of the first things I did was install Norton Ghost 14 so that I could recover data from my old laptop backup. Everything seemed to be going ok until I ran Live Update. My BD-ROM drive disappeared. Checked the Device Manager, which showed problems loading the driver.

Turns out there is an issue with the drivers from Gear Software (http://www.gearsoftware.com/support/drivers.php) that are used by Norton Ghost and other tools like iTunes.

The workaround was painful. I had to use System Restore to go back to before the Ghost install. It was the only way I could get my drive back. I was then able to reinstall Ghost, but not run Live Update, and it seemed to work. Will have to live without Ghost updates for a while until I figure out what is going on.
